Grill Upgrade

There are a few grills made for FMTV family and Oscar came with a flimsy molded plastic… let’s just call it junk. I found a new metal one through the folks at Steel Soldiers but, of course, I wanted to modify it before it went to powder-coat. I cut out the mesh grill on the front to allow for a light bar in the middle. I’m looking for a light bar that is slim in the depth department so it can work with the bar behind it..

I wanted to get ahead of the powder-coat so I put threaded inserts into the grill so I didn’t have to worry about getting a bolt or nut on the other side of the grill to install the license plate or the military number placard (which I kept). Despite the shadows in the image the inserts lay nice and flat.

Here it is installed, still working on getting lighting for it. I can’t seem to find a slim LED for this so if you have any suggestions please comment below.
