Molle Panels

Behind the passenger and driver seat there is a large gap and it took a while to figure out the best way to store gear and make the space usable from almost top to bottom. I also wanted to make sure it all stayed in place when I flipped up the cab. I decided on a Molle rack system with tear away packs. This was an undertaking, but after creating the panels on the back of the truck some of the footwork was already done.

I started by creating a digital drawing to figure out all of the curves. I had to create the panel with foamcore and then tested fitment. I had to do this a few times, it was a rather laborious process. Below is the drawing that I created at size.

The round dots are threaded knobs for removing the panels.. Functionally they are great, aesthetically… they look like a turd in a punchbowl. Below the racks, I found that the Pelican 1510 will fit below the rack, and between the wall and engine well. I would prefer a top loader case but we’ll see if I find something I like better. I won’t purchase these till I get the seats in so I know exactly what kind of depth I am working with.
